DIN 1.4462 Stainless Steel S31803 Pipe
1.4462 duplex stainless steel pipe is a German-grade duplex stainless steel composed of 21% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel-nitrogen alloy.
1.4462 Stainless Steel Clad Pipe has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance. S31803 duplex stainless steel has twice the yield strength of austenitic stainless steel, making this alloy more expensive than 316 and 317L.
This alloy steel pipe is particularly suitable for use in the -50°F/+600°F temperature range. This alloy may also be considered for applications outside this temperature range, but there are some limitations, especially when applied to welded structures.
S31803 duplex stainless steel pipe has twice the compressive strength of 316L and 317L compared to austenitic stainless steel. The 2205 alloy is particularly suitable for use in the temperature range of -50°F/+600°F under strict restrictions. Can be used at lower temperatures (especially in welded structures).

GNEE recommends that molding should be performed below 600°F. During the thermoforming process, the entire workpiece should be heated as a unit to a temperature range of 1750°F to 2250°F, and 2205 alloy is very soft at this temperature. If the temperature is too high, 2205 alloy is prone to heat tearing. Below this temperature austenite fractures. Below 1700°F, intermetallic phases form rapidly due to temperature and strain. Immediately after hot forming, it is solution annealed and quenched at a minimum temperature of 1900°F to restore its phase balance, toughness and corrosion resistance. We do not recommend stress relief, but if necessary the material should be solution annealed to a minimum of 1900°F and then rapidly cooled to water quench.
