CARBON STEEL PIPE PRODUCTION PROCESS

There are two main manufacturing processes for seamless carbon steel pipes, one is the cold drawing process and the other is the hot rolling process. The cold drawing process is to heat the steel billet to a certain temperature, and then use a drawing machine to draw the steel billet into a pipe; the hot rolling process is to heat the steel billet to a certain temperature, and then roll the steel billet into a pipe through a rolling mill. Both processes have their own advantages and disadvantages, and which process to choose depends on the use environment and requirements.

APPLICATION AREAS

Carbon steel pipes are widely used in many fields due to their excellent corrosion resistance, strength, pressure bearing capacity and processability. Specific application areas are as follows:
A179 carbon steel pipes can be used in water, gas and oil pipelines in buildings, as well as stairs, handrails, railings and other components. In addition, it is also used in structural projects such as bridges, high-rise buildings, roads and tunnels to support and transmit loads.
A53 carbon steel pipe is suitable for the chemical industry and is used to transport chemicals, gases and other pipelines.
A106 carbon steel pipe is an important pipeline material for transporting oil and natural gas. It has high strength, reliability and corrosion resistance.
A519 carbon steel pipes are used to manufacture exhaust pipes, body frames, chassis and other parts because of their good wear resistance and strength.
In mechanical engineering, seamless carbon steel pipes are used in conveying systems, pressure vessels, hydraulic systems and other components.

PACKAGING METHOD OF STEEL PIPE

1. Bundle packaging
1) Steel pipes should be prevented from being damaged during bundling and transportation, and the bundling marks should be uniform.
2) The same bundle of steel pipes should be steel pipes of the same heat number (batch number), steel grade, and specifications. It is not allowed to mix batches (batch numbers) for bundling, and those with less than one bundle should be bundled into small bundles.
3) The weight of each bundle of steel pipes should not exceed 3000kg tons. The bale weight can be increased with the user's consent, but the maximum weight cannot exceed 5000kg.
4) When bundling flat-end steel pipes, one end should be aligned, the difference between the aligned ends should be less than 20mm, and the length difference of each bundle of steel pipes should be less than 0.60m. However, the difference in the length of each bundle of steel pipes ordered according to the usual length is less than 1.5m, and the longest and second longest steel pipes in a bundle of steel pipes must not exceed 0.30m.
5) According to the requirements of the purchaser, plastic protective caps can be added to both ends of each flat-end steel pipe.
2. Bundling form
There are basically two types of bundled steel pipes: one is the ordinary type, and the other is the special type with plastic steel brackets.
1) Ordinary type
a Steel pipes can be formed into triangles, hexagons or other regular shapes. The tensile strength of the binding steel strip is ≥785Mpa. Elongation ≥6%, repeated bending times ≥6 times. Ordinary precision, blued steel strip of 31.75 (32) mm width and 0.9 mm thickness or higher strength grade.
b The length of the steel pipe is greater than or equal to 8m, and each bundle is packed with at least 9 steel strips, divided into 3 groups and tied into 3-3-3. The length of the steel pipe is less than 8m, each bundle is 8 steel strips, divided into 3 groups, and tied into 3-2-3. The distance between each of the two sets of steel strips at the end is approximately 0.20m, and the distance between the first set of steel strips and the aligned ends of the steel pipe is approximately 0.50m. The distance between the final steel strip of fixed-length steel pipes and the other end is about 0.50m, and the distance between the final steel strips of non-fixed-length steel pipes and the shortest steel pipe end is about 0.30m. The middle group of steel strips is evenly arranged, but the distance between the steel strips is at most 2m.
c When there are special requirements, two steel wire rope buckles should be tied to each bundle, and the distance between the buckles and the pipe end is 1/4 of the length of the steel pipe. The steel wire rope is added with PVC pipe, and the part without PVC pipe is padded with rubber tape. It must be clamped with 2 rope clamps and twisted into a rope buckle.
d. If there are special requirements, 4 plastic snap rings or nylon rope rings can be added to a single steel pipe. The snap ring or rope loop should be tightened firmly and must not loosen or fall off during transportation.
2) Special type with plastic steel bracket
When there are special requirements, the steel pipe can be punched into a square shape and equipped with plastic steel brackets. Four brackets are placed on each layer of steel pipes, and the first bracket is 0.50m away from the aligned end of the steel pipe. The end bracket of the fixed-length steel pipe is 0.50m away from the other end, and the end bracket of the non-fixed-length steel pipe is 0.25m away from the shortest copper pipe end. The other two brackets are arranged evenly and the brackets should be fixed with fasteners.
3. Container packaging
1) Cold-rolled or cold-drawn seamless pipes and polished hot-rolled stainless steel pipes can be packed in containers (such as iron boxes, wooden boxes).
2) The weight of the packaging container should comply with relevant regulations. The maximum weight of each container can be increased through negotiation between the supplier and the buyer.

FAQ

Q: What are the advantages of seamless pipes?

A: One of the biggest advantages of seamless steel pipe is its ability to withstand pressure. Since they are not welded, there are no seams, making them stronger. Apart from this, determining the pressure calculation is very easy as there is no need to consider the weld quality.

Q: What is A106 pipe?

A: ASTM Specification A106 covers seamless carbon steel nominal wall pipe for high-temperature service, suitable for bending, flanging and similar forming operations. NPS 1-1/2 and under may be either hot finished or cold drawn. NPS 2 and larger shall be hot finished unless otherwise specified.

Q: What grade is A53 pipe?

A: There are three types and two grades of A53 pipe: A53 Type F, longitudinal furnace butt welding or continuous welding (Grades A and B), A53 Type E, longitudinal resistance welding (Grades A and B), A53 Type S, which is Seamed tubes, produced by hot working and possible cold finishing.

Q: What is ASTM A179 material?

A: ASTM A179 covers minimum-wall thickness, seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes for tubular, heat exchanger, condensers, and other heat transfer services. seamless ASTM A 179 steel tube is supplied and produced by cold drawning method. Chemical composition contains carbon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur.
