What material is A709-50W steel pipe made of?
A709-50W alloy pipe is a low-alloy high-strength structural steel pipe with good weather resistance. 50W indicates that its minimum tensile strength is 50 ksi (approximately 345 MPa), while the "W" indicates that the steel has good weather resistance. It is commonly used in structural engineering in marine environments and harsh climatic conditions, providing long service life and excellent corrosion resistance.
A709-50W steel pipe heat treatment:
A709-50W weather-resistant steel pipe is delivered in hot-rolled or controlled-rolled condition, and can be quenched or tempered.
In order to improve the ductility, it is allowed to use a cooling method that is faster than cooling in air, but the steel plate must be tempered. The tempering temperature range is 1100~1300°C (595~705°C), and the material is indicated in the order.
A709-50W technical requirements:
ASTM A709-50W Corten Steel Seamless Tubing should be produced in accordance with the American standard ASMR. The steel plate flaw detection standard shall be ultrasonic flaw detection according to the A578 ultrasonic flaw detection standard. The three levels of A, B, and C must be indicated.
