API 5L X65 PSL2 steel pipe is a high-strength line pipe produced by microalloying and thermomechanical control process (TMCP). The designation "X65" indicates a minimum yield strength of 65 ksi (approximately 448 MPa). According to the 46th edition of the API 5L standard, X65 PSL2 steel pipes must meet stringent requirements for chemical composition and mechanical properties:
Chemical Composition: Low carbon design (C ≤ 0.12%), with microalloying elements such as Nb, V, Ti, and strict control of sulfur and phosphorus content (S ≤ 0.005%, P ≤ 0.020%) to ensure good weldability and corrosion resistance.
Mechanical Properties: Yield strength of 448–600 MPa, tensile strength ≥ 535 MPa, Charpy impact energy ≥ 100 J at –20 °C, and hardness controlled within 250 HV10.
Special Performance: Must pass SSCC (Sulfide Stress Corrosion Cracking) and HIC (Hydrogen-Induced Cracking) tests, complying with NACE TM0177 and NACE TM0284 standards.

Surface Treatment: 3PE Coating for 50-Year Longevity
3PE (Three-Layer Polyethylene): The gold standard for buried pipelines, combining FBE's adhesion with PE's mechanical protection.
FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy): Excellent for preventing corrosion and chemical damage.
Internal Lining: Liquid epoxy coating to reduce friction and improve flow efficiency.
Varnish/Black Painting: Short-term protection against atmospheric corrosion during transit.
Maximize your pipeline's lifespan: Our 3PE coating technology complies with DIN 30670, ensuring 50+ years of service life in harsh soils.
Inspection Services
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): 100% Ultrasonic (UT) or Radiographic (RT) testing of welds and pipe body.
Dimensional Inspection: Precise checking of OD, WT, out-of-roundness, and straightness.
Mechanical Lab: Tensile, Flattening, Bending, and Guided-bend tests.
Third-Party Inspection (TPI): We fully support and welcome inspections by SGS, BV, Intertek, or Lloyd's to provide you with absolute peace of mind.

Packaging & Shipping
Export Packing: Pipes are bundled with steel strips, and ends are protected with heavy-duty plastic caps to prevent thread damage and internal debris.
Slings & Loading: We use nylon slings to avoid scratching 3PE coatings during crane operations.
Flexible Logistics: Whether it's Breakbulk for large diameter pipes or Containerized (20ft/40ft) for standard sizes, we optimize the load to save you freight costs.

FAQ
What is the difference between API 5L X65 PSL1 and PSL2?
API 5L PSL1 steel line pipe has different types of ends, such as plain end, threaded end, bevel end and special coupling pipe, while API 5L PSL2 steel line pipe has only plain end. API 5L PSL1 steel pipes can be produced by various welding methods. However, continuous welding is limited to Grade A25.
What is the difference between API 5L X65 and X70?
API 5L X65: Widely used in onshore and offshore pipelines where moderate strength and good weldability are required. API 5L X70: Preferred for high-pressure pipelines and projects requiring higher strength-to-weight ratios, such as deepwater offshore pipelines.
What is the hardness of X65 pipe?
The X65 in API 5L X65 refers to the grade of the pipe. Specifically, it indicates that the pipe has a minimum yield strength of 65,300 psi (pounds per square inch) or 450 MPa (megapascals).
