JIS G3472 ERW steel pipe is made of carbon steel and connected by the electric resistance welding (ERW) process. Resistance welding is a welding method in which an electric current is passed through the workpiece to generate heat, causing the contact surfaces to melt and subsequently cool to form a weld.
ERW carbon steel pipe under JIS G3472 standard has a variety of specifications, including different outer diameters and wall thicknesses. The outer diameter usually ranges from 15.0mm to 127.0mm, while the wall thickness ranges from 1.0mm to 7.0mm. The surface treatment is usually black.
Multiple quality grades are defined under JIS G3472 standard, such as STAM290GA, STAM30GA, STAM340G, etc. Mainly used in automobile manufacturing, especially automobile structural parts.
