ASTM A179 seamless boiler steel tube for heat exchangers description

Basic characteristics of ASTM A179 seamless low-carbon steel tubing. This type of tubing is primarily made of low-carbon steel, exhibiting excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature stability. Its seamless design minimizes the risk of leakage and breakage when subjected to high pressure and high temperature, thus ensuring the normal operation and service life of equipment. Furthermore, ASTM A179 seamless low-carbon steel tubing possesses good thermal conductivity, effectively transferring heat and improving heat exchange and condensation efficiency.

Technical Requirements

Raw Material Requirements: Raw materials must meet the requirements specified in the new version of A450/A450M.

Production Process: The steel pipes must be seamless steel pipes and processed by cold drawing.

Heat Treatment: The steel pipes must undergo heat treatment at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit (650 degrees Celsius) or higher after the final cold drawing.

Appearance Requirements: Finished pipes must be free of peeling; a small amount of oxides is not considered peeling.

Chemical Composition: The chemical composition of the steel pipes must meet certain requirements, including a carbon content between 0.06% and 0.18%, a manganese content between 0.27% and 0.63%, and a maximum phosphorus and sulfur content of 0.035%. Alloy steels have other requirements for the content of special elements and are not subject to the above restrictions.

Hardness Requirements: The hardness coefficient of the steel pipes must not exceed 72 HRB.
