What is the difference between 25MnG and 20G boiler tube
Chemical composition and mechanical properties:
25MnG (SA-210C): this steel contains high carbon and manganese, its yield strength is about 20% higher than 20G, while the plasticity and toughness are comparable to 20G. This kind of steel pipe has a simple production process and good hot and cold working performance.
20G: This is a low carbon steel with lower carbon and manganese content, its strength is slightly higher than 20MnG, but the plasticity and toughness are comparable to 25MnG.
Use parts and temperature:
The use parts and use temperature of 25MnG and 20G are basically the same, mainly used for water-cooled wall, coal economiser, low-temperature superheater and other parts with working temperature below 500℃.
Manufacturing process:
The manufacturing process of 25MnG is simple, with good hot and cold processing performance, it can be used to replace 20G, reduce the wall thickness, reduce the amount of material, and improve the heat transfer condition of the boiler.
To summarise, 25MnG has a higher yield strength, while the manufacturing process and uses are similar to 20G and can be used to replace 20G in high temperature and high pressure boiler applications.
