DIN 17175 15Mo3 Cold Drawn Steel Tube

Dec 10, 2025 Leave a message

A 15Mo3 seamless steel tube for high-pressure boilers per German standard DIN 17175, formed by cold-drawing process. With molybdenum content 0.25-0.35%, designed for pressure applications ≤510°C (e.g., economizers, superheaters).

Core Features & Applications

Material Properties

Composition‌: Low carbon (C≤0.20%) + Molybdenum (Mo) → Enhances thermal strength & resists graphitization

Process‌: Cold-drawn (room-temperature drawing) → Dimensional accuracy ±0.1mm, surface roughness Ra≤1.6μm

Performance Advantages

High-temp strength: Yield strength ≥110MPa at 510°C (superior to carbon steel tubes)

Creep resistance: Max continuous service temp ≤480°C (avoids long-term graphitization)

Typical Applications

Boiler systems: High-pressure boiler economizer tubes, low-temperature superheaters

Petrochemical: Heat exchanger tubes, pressure vessels ≤5.88MPa

Production Process of 15Mo3 Cold-Drawn Steel Tubes

Heating & Quenching

Rectangular billets are heated in a high-temperature furnace to achieve sufficient plasticity.

Temperature control‌: Strict regulation prevents oxidation scale formation.

Water quenching‌: Immediately cools billets post-heating to avoid deformation/cracks.

Forming Process

Quenched billets are fed into cold-drawing dies.

Precision drawing‌: High pressure gradually shapes billets into specified dimensions.

Critical controls‌:

Drawing speed and pressure → Prevents cracks/over-deformation

Surface finish → Meets roughness (Ra) and smoothness standards

Quality Inspection

Post-forming tubes undergo:

Dimensional accuracy verification (OD/wall thickness ±0.05mm)

Non-destructive testing (ultrasonic/eddy current)

Surface defect scanning

Finishing & Packaging

Surface treatment‌: Rust prevention (e.g., oiling/passivation)

Special applications‌: Additional coatings (galvanizing/powder coating) for corrosion resistance.

Packaging‌:

Tubes stacked with protective spacers

Labels specifying: Dimensions, batch number, production date, standards (e.g., DIN 17175 15Mo3)
