Forged steel gate valves are primarily used for shutoff in pipelines. They are a widely used type of valve and are generally chosen for shutoff devices with diameters DN ≤ 50.
The opening and closing member of a forged steel gate valve is the gate disc, which moves perpendicular to the flow direction. Forged steel gate valves can only be fully opened and fully closed and cannot be used for regulation or throttling. The gate disc of a forged steel gate valve has two sealing surfaces. The most common type of gate valve is a wedge-shaped wedge-shaped wedge-shaped wedge angle, which varies with valve parameters. Forged steel gate valves are available in several actuation modes: manual, pneumatic, electric, and gas-hydraulic.
Advantages of Forged Steel Gate Valves
1. Low fluid resistance.
2. Low external force required for opening and closing.
3. Unrestricted flow direction.
4. When fully open, the sealing surface is less eroded by the working medium than with a globe valve.
5. Relatively simple design, allowing for better casting processability.
Disadvantages of Forged Steel Gate Valves
1. Large overall dimensions and opening height. Requires a large amount of space for installation.
2. During opening and closing, friction between the sealing surfaces can easily cause scratches.
3. Forged steel gate valves generally have two sealing surfaces, making machining, grinding, and maintenance more difficult.
