ASTM A179 boiler tube is a high-temperature boiler tube, mainly used in equipment such as boilers and superheaters under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions.
According to ASTM A179 standard, this boiler tube has a service temperature range of 371°C (700°F) to 649°C (1200°F). Within this temperature range, steel pipes need to have good oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature strength and creep properties.
Manufacturing Process:
Seamless and cold-drawing
Heat treatment:
The tube shall be heat treated after the final cold draw pass at a temperature of 1200°F or higher.
Surface Condition:
Finished tubes shall be free of scale,A slight amount of oxidation will not be considered as scale.
Mechanical Tests Required:
Flattening Test
Flaring test
Flange test
Hardness test
Hydrostatic test
1.1 This specification covers minimum-wall-thickness, seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes for tubular heat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat transfer apparatus.
1.2 This specification covers tubes 1/8 to 3 in. [3.2 to 76.2 mm], inclusive, in outside diameter.
