What is the difference between carbon steel pipe and galvanized steel pipe?
1. Different production processes
Carbon steel pipes are made from steel ingots or solid round steel, which are perforated to form capillary tubes, and then hot rolled, cold rolled, and cold drawn. Carbon steel pipes occupy an important position in the domestic steel pipe field.
Galvanized steel pipes are hot-dip galvanized. Galvanized steel pipes should be tested for balance of the galvanized layer.
2. Different materials
Carbon steel pipe is an alloy material with carbon and iron as its main components. It has excellent mechanical properties and processing properties, but poor corrosion resistance. It is often used in pipelines carrying fluids or gases.
Galvanized steel pipe is a pipe that is coated with a layer of zinc on the surface of the steel pipe after electrochemical treatment, mainly to increase the corrosion resistance of the pipe. Therefore, galvanized pipes are made of carbon steel, stainless steel and other metal materials.
3. Surface treatment
The surface of carbon steel pipes is untreated or only coated with grease and is susceptible to external oxidation and corrosion, so its service life is limited.
Galvanized steel pipe is a layer of zinc plated on the surface of the steel pipe, and the galvanized layer is formed through electroplating and other technologies. This method not only prevents oxidation and corrosion, but also improves the wear resistance and aesthetics of the pipeline.
Scope of application
Carbon steel pipes and galvanized pipes are both commonly used metal pipes, but due to their different properties and uses, their scope of application is also different.
Carbon steel pipes are suitable for transporting gas or fluid and withstand high pressure; while galvanized pipes are mainly used in wet and corrosive places, such as petrochemical, chemical, shipbuilding and ocean development.
