Chemical composition and physical properties

Q235B: The carbon content is about 0.12% to 0.20%, the manganese content is 0.30% to 0.67%, the silicon content is not more than 0.30%, the sulfur content is limited to 0.045% and the phosphorus content is not more than 0.045%. This type of steel is mainly used for building and engineering structures, such as reinforcing bars and plant frames.
20 steel: With a carbon content of 0.2%, it is a low carbon steel. This type of steel has good plasticity and toughness due to its low carbon content, and is commonly used in the manufacture of mechanical parts and structural components, such as automobile and tractor parts.

Mechanical properties comparison

Q235B: has high strength and good plasticity, but cold deformation plasticity is poor, easy to crack in the shape of complex or strict requirements of the parts.
20 steel: with higher strength and better wear resistance, high cold deformation plasticity, suitable for bending, calendering and other processing.

Applications

Q235B: Widely used in construction, bridges, roads and other general steel structure field, because of its excellent welding performance and moderate strength.
20 steel: mainly used in the manufacture of high-strength mechanical parts, structural parts subject to large loads and occasions requiring high wear resistance, such as parts of automobiles and tractors.

Price and market availability

Q235B: As a common low carbon steel, the market supply is relatively sufficient and the price is relatively stable.
20 steel: due to its high strength and specific applications, the price is usually slightly higher.
