ASTM A269 UNS S31254 steel pipe is a super austenitic stainless steel pipe. UNS S31254 is also known as 254SMO or 1.4547 stainless steel. Its characteristic is that its pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) is enhanced by increasing the molybdenum content (up to 6%), making its performance close to super duplex stainless steel.
254SMO stainless steel round pipe has extremely high corrosion resistance, especially for chloride and seawater corrosion. ASTM A269 UNS S31254 stainless steel pipe is widely used in various environments requiring high corrosion resistance.
It should be noted that S31254 steel pipe is a fully austenitic single-phase structure and is extremely sensitive to welding hot cracks. Therefore, it is necessary to select low S and P welding materials during welding, such as ERNiCrMo-3 welding wire and ENiCrMo-3 welding rod.
