Alloy 20 steel pipe is a specially designed sulfuric acid resistant material. The chemical composition of the alloy steel pipe 20 includes carbon, silicon, manganese, sulfur, phosphorus, chromium, nickel, copper and molybdenum. Among them, the carbon content is between 0.17 and 0.23, the silicon content is between 0.17 and 0.37, the manganese content is between 0.90 and 1.20, the allowable residual contents of sulfur and phosphorus do not exceed 0.015 and 0.025 respectively, and the chromium content is between 1.10 and 1.40. During the period, the allowable residual contents of nickel and copper respectively do not exceed 0.030, and the molybdenum content is between 0.20 and 0.30. This alloy is widely used in applications where resistance to corrosion by sulfuric acid and other acids is required.
Alloy 20 steel pipe has a nickel content of 33%. This high nickel content gives it practical resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. In many corrosive environments, Alloy 20's corrosion resistance exceeds that of 316L stainless steel. Therefore, when using 316L stainless steel for possible SCC issues, Alloy 20 is often chosen as the solution.
In terms of yield capacity, alloy pipe 20 has high strength and toughness. Its yield strength is 240MPa, tensile strength is 400-550MPa, and elongation is more than 25%. These properties make Alloy Steel Pipe 20 excellent at withstanding high loads and resisting harsh environments.
In addition, because the carbon content of Alloy 20 carbon steel pipe is limited by the stabilization of niobium, this allows it to be used in welded structures, allowing it to perform well in corrosive environments, often without the need for post-weld heat treatment.
