ASME SA179 steel pipes have a specific minimum wall thickness and are widely used in tubular heat exchangers, condensers and similar heat transfer equipment.
The chemical composition of ASME SA 179 carbon steel seamless pipes is between 0.06 and 0.18% carbon, the silicon and manganese contents are up to 0.37% and 0.63% to 0.93% respectively, and the phosphorus and sulfur contents should not exceed 0.035%.
SA179 seamless steel pipes should have a tensile strength of at least 325MPa, a yield strength of at least 180MPa, and an elongation of at least 35%.
