What is the ASTM standard for black steel pipe?
ASTM A53 is the standard specification covering seamless and welded, black and hot-dip galvanized nominal (average) wall pipe for coiling, bending, flanging and other special purposes and suitable for welding.
ASTM A53 steel pipe is a carbon steel alloy pipe that can be used as structural steel or low-pressure pipe. ASTM A53 (ASME SA53) Carbon Steel Pipe is a specification covering seamless, welded black and hot-dip galvanized steel pipe in sizes NPS 1/8" to NPS 26. A53 black steel pipe is suitable for pressure and mechanical applications and is also suitable for General use in steam, water, gas and air piping.
The A53 carbon tubes produced by GNEE are available in three types (F, E, S) and two grades (A, B).
Type A53F is manufactured with furnace butt welds or may have continuous welds (Grade A only)

Q.What is the difference between A53 and A500 pipes?
A.A500 has tighter tolerances than A53, so A500 round steel pipe has higher quality and less variability. Round HSS pipe has an excellent surface finish and does not have the varnish coating typically found on A53 pipe.
