ASTM A53 Grade B steel pipe is made from a carbon steel alloy which is widely used in structural steel and low pressure hot and cold water piping. According to the ASTM A53 standard, Grade B Schedule 40 gas pipe is suitable for both mechanical and pressure applications as well as general purpose use. For general purpose applications, ASTM A53 Type E galvanized pipe is specified for water, steam, gas, and air piping. Because ASTM A53 Grade B alloy is weldable, it is well suited for forming operations such as coiling, bending and flanging.
Steel pipe will start to deform permanently when it is subjected to tensile force, and this force that does not return to its original state is called tensile yield force.A53 galvanized steel pipe is able to withstand certain mechanical stress because of its relatively high yield strength.
By adding a layer of zinc to the surface of the steel pipe, a galvanized layer is formed to improve the ability of A53 steel pipe to resist corrosion. This anti-corrosion treatment makes the steel pipe more resistant in wet environments or conditions where corrosive substances are present.
