ASTM A192 is the standard for seamless carbon steel boiler and superheater tubing and specifies the manufacturing, performance and quality requirements for these tubing. Covers minimum wall thickness seamless carbon steel boiler and superheater tubes for high pressure applications. These pipes typically have an outside diameter of 1/2 inch to 7 inches and a minimum wall thickness of 0.085 inch to 1.000 inch. Of course, tubes with other dimensions may also be supplied, provided that such tubes comply with all other requirements of the specification.
ASTM A192 carbon steel boiler tubes are usually used in high-pressure boilers with working pressures not exceeding 9.8Mpa. These tubes are available in both hot rolled and cold drawn conditions.
ASTM A192 boiler tubes are manufactured using a seamless process and can be hot or cold worked. Heat-finished pipe does not require heat treatment, whereas cold-finished pipe should be heat-treated at 1200°F or higher after final cold finishing.
In addition, A192 high-temperature steel pipes are often used in the manufacture of supercritical boilers because these equipments have high working pressures and temperatures and require good high-temperature resistance.
