What is API 5L X52 equivalent to?
What is the pressure rating of API 5L X52 pipe
API 5L X52 SSAW Pipe Quality Assurance:
The weld seam is the heart of a spiral pipe. To mitigate the risk of failure, our API 5L X52 pipes undergo a rigorous Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) protocol:
- 100% Online Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Detects internal flaws during the production process.
- X-Ray Inspection (RT): Conducted on pipe ends and suspect areas to ensure total metallurgical fusion.
- Hydrostatic Testing: Every pipe is tested to at least 1.5x its design pressure to guarantee leak-proof performance before shipment.
- Dimensional Precision: We monitor the Out-of-roundness and Beveled ends to ensure your on-site welding team can work faster and more accurately.

GNEE Coated Pipe Services
To extend the pipeline's service life to 50+ years, we offer integrated coating services:
3LPE / 3LPP: The gold standard for oil and gas trunklines.
FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy): Superior adhesion for high-temperature or corrosive soils.
Cement Lining / Bitumen: Preferred for large-diameter municipal water transmission.

API 5L X52 Large Diameter Sprial Welded Pipe Packaging and shipping
Common Packaging Methods
1. End Protection - The Most Critical Step
Plastic Caps: Used to prevent moisture and contaminants from entering the pipe interior, while protecting the beveled end (Bevel End).
Metal End Protectors: For heavy-wall large-diameter pipes of grade API 5L X52 and above, plastic caps are prone to breakage. Steel-reinforced rings are typically welded or fastened at the pipe ends to prevent impact damage and deformation during lifting and handling.
2. Surface Protection
Bare Packaging: Applied to pipes without anti-corrosion coating; only a layer of anti-rust paint (Black Vanish) or anti-rust oil is applied on the surface.
Strapping with Nylon Ropes or Straw Pads: If the steel pipe has a 3LPE or FBE anti-corrosion coating, nylon ropes or straw pads are wound around the pipe body every 2–3 meters to serve as a buffer, preventing scratches during lifting and transportation.
3. Marking and Tagging
Stenciling: According to API 5L standards, the following information is sprayed on both the outer and inner walls of the pipe: manufacturer's mark, specifications, steel grade (X52), heat number (Heat No.), pipe number, length, and applicable standard.
Tags: Metal or plastic tags are hung inside and outside the pipe ends for easy warehouse inventory and traceability.
Common Transportation Modes
The choice of transportation method depends on the pipe's outer diameter (OD), length, and total order volume.
1. Break Bulk Cargo - Preferred for Large-Diameter Pipes
Due to the high space consumption and handling difficulty of large-diameter pipes (e.g., over 800mm), 90% of large-scale projects use break bulk shipping.
Loading Method: Pipes are neatly stacked on the ship's hold or deck.
Securing Method: Wooden dunnage is laid at the bottom, and steel wires or nylon straps with ratchet tensioners are used to secure the pipes and prevent rolling during transit.
Advantages: No restrictions on pipe dimensions; relatively lower freight cost per ton.
2. Container Shipping - Suitable for Medium-Diameter or Small-Batch Orders
20-Foot General Purpose Container (20GP): Maximum pipe length limited to within 5.8 meters.
40-Foot High Cube Container (40HC): Maximum pipe length limited to within 11.8 meters (standard spiral pipes are typically 12 meters long, so cutting may be required).
Nesting Loading: To save freight costs, smaller-diameter pipes are sometimes inserted into larger-diameter ones for transport.
Flat Rack Container: Used when the pipe diameter exceeds 2.3 meters (container door width); ideal for oversized or overweight cargo.
3. Rail and Road Transport - For Landlocked Neighboring Countries
Truck Transport: Typically uses 13.5-meter or 17.5-meter flatbed trailers. Large-diameter pipes are usually loaded one to three per layer.
Rail Transport: Suitable for regions such as the five Central Asian countries and Russia. Specialized pipe-carrying railcars with support fixtures are used, offering high safety and efficiency.
