ASTM A500 Grade B Carbon Steel Pipe vs ASTM A53 Grade B

A53Gr.B belongs to the carbon steel pipe category under the ASTM standard. Its chemical composition falls within the low-carbon steel category (C ≤ 0.30%), with basic strengthening achieved through the addition of elements such as Mn (below 1.2%) and Si (0.15-0.40%). ASTM-A53Gr.B seamless carbon steel pipes are produced using either hot rolling or cold drawing processes. Hot rolling shapes the steel billet through high-temperature rolling, suitable for manufacturing large-diameter, thick-walled pipes; cold drawing improves dimensional accuracy and surface finish through cold working, suitable for small-diameter, high-precision pipes. Both processes ensure the uniformity and mechanical properties of the steel pipe.

A500GR.B is a rectangular tube standard established by ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials). It is a low-alloy carbon structural steel made from hot-rolled steel sheet. Its mechanical properties are slightly higher than ordinary carbon structural steel, and it also has stronger corrosion resistance.

American standard rectangular tubes manufactured according to the A500GR.B standard have mechanical properties that meet ASTM A500 requirements and must undergo pressure testing to ensure their strength and airtightness. These American standard rectangular tubes are widely used in bridges, construction, machinery and other fields.
