Tubing End Finishes (Connections)
NUE (Non-Upset End):
Threads are cut directly into the pipe body. The joint strength is generally lower than the pipe body strength.
EUE (External Upset End):
The pipe ends are thickened (upset) before threading to compensate for the strength lost during thread cutting. This is the most common connection type for production tubing.
IJ (Integral Joint):
A connection where one end is a female thread (box) and the other is a male thread (pin). It requires no separate coupling and is used in restricted-clearance wells.
Premium Connections:
Proprietary gas-tight threads (e.g., VAM, Tenaris) designed for high-pressure gas wells where 100% leak resistance is mandatory.
