A210/A210M Boiler tube description
ASTM A210/A210M Boiler Tubes are seamless medium-carbon steel tubes designed for boiler and boiler flue applications, primarily used in components such as safety ends, domes, support tubes, and superheater tubes. These products comply with the ASTM A210 and ASME SA210 standards established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
Material & Specifications
Material: Seamless medium-carbon steel tube with a minimum wall thickness suitable for high-pressure applications.
Grades: A210A1 and A210C.
Chemical Composition: For every 0.01% reduction in carbon content, manganese content may increase by 0.06%, with a maximum of 1.35%.
Hardness:
A210A1: ≤79 HRB (143 HB)
A210C: ≤89 HRB (179 HB)
Size Tolerance: Meets dimensional requirements for manufacturing critical pressure-bearing components in boiler systems.
Standard Specification
A210/A210M specification covers minimum-wall-thickness, seamless medium-carbon steel, boiler tubes, and boiler flues, including safe ends (see Note 1), arch and stay tubes, and superheater tubes.
NOTE 1: This type is not suitable for safe endings by forge welding.
The A210/A210M bolier tube sizes and thicknesses usually furnished to this specification are 1/2 in. to 5 in. [12.7 to 127 mm] in outside diameter and 0.035 to 0.500 in. [0.9 to 12.7 mm], inclusive, in minimum wall thickness. Tubing having other dimensions may be furnished, provided such tubes comply with all other requirements of this specification.
Mechanical property requirements do not apply to tubing smaller than 1/8 in. [3.2 mm] in inside diameter or 0.015 in. [0.4 mm] in thickness.
A210/A210M specification covers grades A-1 and C of Seamless Medium-Carbon Boiler and Superheater Tubes with different chemical and tensile requirements. (Table 1, Table 3, and Section 11.)
