316 Stainless Steel Polished Pipe
316 stainless steel pipe, also known as UNS S31600 and 316 grade, is an austenitic stainless steel whose main alloying elements include chromium, nickel and molybdenum.
The addition of molybdenum (not present in Stainless Steel 304) is what makes Stainless Steel 316 more resistant to highly corrosive environments such as salt water or chloride environments. Compared to stainless steel 304 steel pipe, stainless steel 316 high temperature steel pipe has better creep resistance and higher strength at higher temperatures.
In the annealed state, stainless steel 316 round tube is non-magnetic, but may become weak if subjected to extensive cold working, requiring further annealing to correct this problem. Stainless steel acid-resistant pipe 316 cannot be hardened by heat treatment. However, by cold working stainless steel 316 pipe, the hardness and strength can be significantly increased.
