X42 seamless steel pipe, also known as L290 pipeline steel, is a low-carbon microalloyed steel pipe conforming to API SPEC 5L standards. It is manufactured through Mn-Mo-Nb-Ti microalloying design and controlled rolling and cooling processes, achieving a minimum yield strength of 290 MPa (42 ksi), hence the name "X42". This material combines good weldability with resistance to hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC), maintaining stable impact toughness even at -20°C, making it a cost-effective and reliable industrial conveying steel.
X42 seamless steel pipes must strictly adhere to the core specifications of API SPEC 5L, 46th edition, and also meet the corresponding requirements of the national standard GB/T 9711. International equivalent standards include EN 10208-2 L290 and ISO 3183 L290. The standards explicitly require: outer diameter deviation ≤ ±0.75%, wall thickness tolerance controlled within +15%/-12.5%; 100% ultrasonic testing and eddy current testing are required, with defect detection sensitivity reaching the equivalent of a Φ1.6mm flat-bottom hole; mainstream products have passed SGS third-party testing, and the hydrostatic test pressure is not less than 15MPa.
