317L stainless steel pipe (corresponding to Chinese grade 00Cr19Ni13Mo3) is a ultra-low-carbon austenitic stainless steel pipe produced under the ASTM standard, classified as a heat-resistant steel. It is widely used in highly corrosive environments such as chemical, petrochemical, and nuclear power industries. Its chemical composition includes 18-20% chromium (Cr), 11-15% nickel (Ni), 3-4% molybdenum (Mo), with carbon content ≤0.08%. The reduced carbon content enhances intergranular corrosion resistance, while molybdenum improves ** chloride corrosion resistance**.
After solution treatment at 1010-1150°C followed by rapid cooling, the pipe exhibits mechanical properties including yield strength ≥177 MPa, tensile strength ≥480 MPa, elongation ≥35%. The surface chromium oxide layer effectively prevents oxygen erosion. It complies with standards such as ASTM A312, ASME SA213, and is manufactured through cold drawing and hot rolling, available in OD 6-762mm and wall thickness 1-140mm.
Compared to standard stainless steel, its higher cost is due to high alloy content, though it remains less expensive than plates of the same grade. Weight calculation follows the formula: (OD - wall thickness) × wall thickness × 0.02491.
