C45 is a medium carbon steel, and C45 stands for a carbon content of approximately 0.45 per cent for this tube.
Chemical properties of C45 steel
- Carbon (C): 0.42 to 0.50 per cent
- Silicon (Si): usually between 0.17 and 0.37 per cent
- Manganese (Mn): 0.50 to 0.80 per cent
- Phosphorus (P): maximum content usually not exceeding 0.035 per cent
- Sulphur (S): Maximum content usually not exceeding 0.035 per cent.
- Chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu): the content of these elements is usually very low or not additive
