What does S355J2H mean?

S355J2H is a steel pipe grade in the European standard with a steel number of 1.0576, which is a hollow section structural non-alloy steel pipe with a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa when the wall thickness is 16 mm or less, and a minimum impact energy of 27 J at -20 °C.

What is the difference between S355JR and S355J2H?

In S355JR and S355J2 steel, JR and J2 indicates the steel needs to do +20℃ impact test and -20℃ impact test respectively. The different impact temperature is the main difference between S355JR and S355J2 steel. S355J2 steel can better adapt to low temperature work condition than S355JR steel.

What is the yield strength of S355J2H?

The yield strength of S355J2H can reach up to 355 N/mm², and the tensile strength is 470-630MPa; the yield strength of S235JRH is up to 235 N/mm², and the tensile strength is in the range of 360-510MPa.

What is the ASTM grade equivalent of S355J2?

The ASTM equivalent of S355J2 steel is A572 Grade 50, a high-strength low-alloy steel with similar strength and low-temperature toughness for load-bearing structures.

What is the Chinese equivalent of S355JR?

S355JR is a European standard grade for hot-rolled structural steels with a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa. Its equivalents in other standards offer similar properties for international sourcing. Common equivalents include ASTM A572 Grade 50 (USA), DIN ST52-3 (Germany), JIS SM490A (Japan), and GB Q345B (China).
