What is 20G pipe material?

20G is a type of high-quality carbon structural steel, commonly used in the production of boiler tubes and pressure vessels due to its excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance. 20G is the steel material of GB 5310- 2008.

 

What are the differences between A106B and 20G seamless steel pipes?

A106B and 20G seamless steel pipes differ significantly in several aspects. First, in terms of manufacturing standards, A106B seamless steel pipe conforms to ASTM A106, while 20G seamless steel pipe conforms to ASTM A210. Second, their chemical compositions also differ. A106B seamless steel pipe has a lower carbon content, only about 0.2%, and a higher manganese content, about 1.7%. In contrast, 20G seamless steel pipe has a higher carbon content, about 0.22%, and a lower manganese content, only 1.4%. These differences in chemical composition lead to differences in their mechanical properties. A106B seamless steel pipe has higher yield strength and tensile strength, at 415 MPa and 480 MPa respectively, while 20G seamless steel pipe has relatively lower yield strength and tensile strength, at 241 MPa and 335 MPa respectively. Furthermore, their weights also differ. Due to the greater thickness of A106B seamless steel pipe, its weight per meter is typically about 1.5 kg heavier than that of 20G seamless steel pipe.
