A333 GR6 GR8 LTCS Pipe Description
A333 GR6, GR8 seamless tubes belong to ASTM A333 series of seamless tubes for cryogenic use, specialised in cryogenic pressure vessels, heat exchangers and piping systems from -45℃ to -195℃.
Selection advice:
GR6 is economical and suitable for regular low temperature scenarios (e.g. chemical pipelines).
GR8 Higher nickel cost, but suitable for extreme low-temperature and high-strength requirements (e.g., LNG core equipment).

1. A333 GR6
Chemical composition:
Low carbon (C) ≤ 0.30%, manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.06%, strict control of sulphur (S), phosphorus (P) (S), phosphorus (P) content (all ≤ 0.025%) to enhance low temperature toughness.
Nickel-free (Ni) design, relying on aluminium deoxidation fine grain structure to optimize low temperature performance.
Mechanical properties:
Tensile strength ≥415 MPa, yield strength ≥240 MPa, elongation ≥24%.
Applicable temperature: -45 ℃ ~ -195 ℃ (such as liquefied natural gas, ethylene transport).
2. A333 GR8 (9Ni steel)
Chemical composition:
High nickel (Ni) content (about 9%), significantly improving low-temperature toughness and resistance to brittle fracture.
Low sulphur (S) and phosphorus (P) (≤0.025%) to reduce the influence of impurities on welding performance.
Mechanical properties:
Yield strength ≥585 MPa, tensile strength ≥760 MPa, suitable for -196℃ extreme environment.
Typical use: liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanks, marine dry ice storage equipment.
