A335 p12 material composition includes up to 0.05 – 0.15 carbon, 0.30 – 0.61 manganese, up to 0.025 sulfur and phosphorus, 0.5 silicon, 0.80-1.25 chromium and up to 0.44-0.65 molybdenum. Such steels should meet specified chemical composition, tensile properties and hardness requirements. Types of heat treatment Full or isothermal annealing Normalizing and tempering.
The equivalent grade of A335/ASME SA 335 p12 grade is BSI 3604/620, which has unique properties and is often referred to as chromium molybdenum pipe due to the composition of molybdenum and chromium. Molybdenum increases the strength and elastic limit of steel, and its wear resistance, impact performance and hardenability are also greatly improved.
ASTM A335 p12 Seamless ferritic alloy steel pipe is used in high temperature services transporting extremely hot gases, liquids or water.
